A skills scan refers to a systematic process of assessing and analysing a learner or applicant's existing knowledge, skills and behaviours. It involves identifying the strengths, weaknesses and gaps in the individual's skill set in relation to the requirements of the proposed programme.
The goal of a skills scan is to provide both the candidate and the training provider with a clear understanding of the individual's current skill level, allowing for tailored learning and development.
This process helps the candidate and the training provider make informed decisions about the proposed programme, identify areas for growth, and align their learning experiences with their candidates and employers goals.
Over time, as the candidate progresses through the programme, the skills scan can be utilised at various milestones to evidence the distance travelled.
