As part of bringing Advanced Education products closer together and also embed additional security measures into the products; Advanced have introduced a single sign on solution - Advanced Single Sign on (OneAdvanced Identity)

Advanced Single Sign-On (OneAdvanced Identity) offers several advantages for both users and organizations. The key benefits of Advanced Single Sign-On include:

  • Centralized Authentication: OneAdvanced Identity allows for centralized authentication, meaning that user credentials are managed in one place. This facilitates better control and monitoring of access.

  • Adoption of Federated Services: OneAdvanced Identity can be configured to adopt your organisations federated services. Allowing users within your organisation to sign in with your organisations user credentials.

  • Seamless Access: Users experience a seamless and integrated access to various applications across Advanced Education, contributing to a more positive user experience.

  • Reduced Password Fatigue: Users have to remember and manage fewer passwords since they only need to authenticate once to access multiple applications and services.

Enabling OneAdvanced Identity for an existing user.

Users created following OneAdvanced Identity being enabled will automatically be created in OneAdvanced Identity. Only existing users need to be manually created using the process outlined below.

Once OneAdvanced Identity has been set up and enabled on your PICSWeb environment; Administrators will have the ability to create users in OneAdvanced Identity. This is achieved by access Users & Access, following this access Users & Permissions from the available sub-menu.

Notice that with OneAdvanced Identity enabled on the PICWeb environment, a new column will be present in the Users & Permissions page, each user will now have a column where we can quickly identify if OneAdvanced Identity has been enabled for that user. This is flagged under the ASSO column as shown below.

To enable OneAdvanced Identity, click Summary against the relevant user via the more actions icon (3 dots). Within the summary menu you’ll see you have the option to create this user in Advanced SSO.

With the validation complete (following any required changes being applied) you can then press the Create button to successfully create the user in Advanced SSO. This will also be reflected in the OneAdvanced Identity column within the user list.

Logging into PICSWeb Using OneAdvanced Identity.

With OneAdvanced Identity Enabled, the PICSWeb Login page will look slightly different. You’ll notice a dedicated button to log in with Advanced SSO.

Clicking this button will forward you to the Advanced Single Sign on homepage, where you’ll be asked to sign into Advanced Single Sign on using your OneAdvanced Identity credentails (which you would have recieved when your account was created in OneAdvanced Identity)

Signing into Advanced Single Sign on successfully, you’ll then be redirected back to PICSWeb where you’ll be signed into your PICSWeb account.

Please be aware that once OneAdvanced Identity is enabled, attempting to sign in using your PICSWeb credentials will not work if you’re account has been created in OneAdvanced Identity.
