Managing Tags in PICSWeb Configuration
If you have Database Administrator permissions set in your PICSWeb User Account, a link the side menu to the Tags page in the Lists and Types section of PICSWeb Configuration will be available. This page shows a list of all tags created and the records that they are available for, with a flag to mark Retired tags that are no longer useable.
Filtering the Tag List
The following searching and filtering options are available by default above the list. Once you have entered the necessary details, press Enter or select the Search icon to run the search and apply your filters.
Search – Here you can search tag name.
Available For Types – Here you can us the drop-down menu to restrict the list to certain record types.
Status – Here you can restrict the list to Main, Live, or Retired tags.
Number of records – Here you can use the drop-down menu to choose how many results are displayed per page.
Exporting the Tag List
Selecting More shows an option to Export to Excel. Selecting this will generate an Excel Spreadsheet containing the details currently displayed in the list.
Tag Actions
A button to Create a new tag, as explained above, is available at the top-right corner of the page. Along with this, the following actions are available by selecting the ... icon by a tag.
Edit – This will open a window where you can change the Name, Available For Types and Status of the tag. Select Save to confirm any changes you have made.
Delete – You will need to confirm your choice before you can delete the tag.
Main Tags
It is possible to set a tag’s status to Main. This will indicate that a tag is used for top-level classification. As any main tags will have Main added to their name by default, it is easy to limit searches to main tags only by entering Main into the search bar.
Most importantly, when you are running Reports, you can limit the display to only show main tags attached to a record. This makes sure that you can avoid overly complicating the report by showing every tag attached to the record rather than only the useful ones.
